The Good, The Bad and The Ugly....

The Good
We made it to Peoria!

We are all settled into our little studio hotel suite. It's not too bad - it has a full size refrigerator which is more than I was expecting! Couldn't live here for TOO long, but it will be alright for a while.

The Bad

DOWNTOWN DAY CARE!!! It was horrible. I figured that with it being in the Chase Bank Building, it would be nice since the parents work there. Wrong! Either that or they just have extremely low standards. We got there and first of all - it's in the basement of the building with no sunlight. Oh - and no keypad entry or front reception area - come one come all to grab a child...nobody will stop you! It's all concrete walls, indoor/outdoor carpet and ghetto decorations. There were no mats, pads, etc in the infant room - are they supposed to crawl around on the hard surfaces? There was no sink in the room - where do they wash their hands? What was the crusty stuff on the changing table? Oh - and the kicker...they had his name in foam letters above the crib with the "N" backwards. The director said to one of the teacher in the infant room...oh, the "N" is backwards - the lady said "no - is that backwards?" Hello!!! If you don't know what way an "N" goes I am pretty sure you are not qualified to watch my child.

So I left him there from 8am until 10am (I didn't want to leave him at all and I was bawling). I went at 10am and said that Rob found out that he would be working off hours and not out of work until 6:30pm (they close at 5:30pm). When I got there to pick him up, one of the teachers (who can't spell) put a baby in her car seat and gave her a bottle - the baby started drinking it and the lady said "oh, uh-huh, I am not gonna sit here and hold dis fo ya" Nice...and that is with a parent in the room! Hopefully I can get my deposit back, but even if not I am not taking him there!!!

The Ugly

I have been on the phone all day looking for another day care and almost everyone has a waiting list. Rob's HR lady did recommend one that has one opening - it's not a convienient location, but if it's nice we will take it. I am on a few waiting lists for other ones in a better location so we'll see what happens. I'll keep you posted!!!

Well I still don't have a summer job, I can just come and stay with you and watch Justin all summer.

I recommend going to the IL gov website and looking up child care. I did that to check out the home daycare. You can see inspection observations/complaints, etc.

Below is the link to the MI child care places. I am sure IL has a similar link.

I recommend the state/government website thing, too. I did that in Washington and it gave a list of all licensed daycare providers (both in and out of the home).

Good luck!

I'm so sorry. I know how bad you feel. I had a similar problem when I first moved to Detroit and I cried every day for like two weeks straight about it. I know you will find something!

Missy, I don't blame you. I had a horrible time when Megan was a baby. She was fired the next day. Justin deserves excellent day care. He is such a joy and happy baby

I love you :)
