Our family lost a great friend....

Some of you who read my blog I am sure know Mr. Dunn - he was a dear friend of our family for as long as I can remember. My fondest memories of Will are on the Jimbet (Grandpa & Grandma Metzler's boat, or should I say boats!). Grandpa and Will were fishing buddies, golfing buddies and the best of friends. The funeral is today in Bay City and I really wish we could be there. Please know that we are thinking about you Grandpa & Grandma - we love you so much.....

Dunn, Mr. Wilfred James, "Jim"
Bay City, Michigan

Beloved husband, father, grandfather and great-grand-father passed away Thursday, January 31, 2008 at his home following
a brief illness surrounded by his wife, children
and grand-children. Jim was born April 10, 1919 in
Saginaw, Michigan. He
married Ruth Miller, his loving wife of 64 years, on December 4,
1943 at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Saginaw. She survives him. Wil proudly served as a Sergeant with 411th Headquarters Company in the 103rd Division with the U.S. Army during WWII. During this time he was awarded both the Silver and Bronze Stars for his bravery in action. Mr. Dunn started working diligently to help support his mother and five siblings at the age of 16 and continued to work for others until starting his own company in 1956. His companies included Valley Leasing Company, Bulk Transport Company of Essexville Inc. and Chippewa Transport Company. During his years in business he worked with his wife and partner, Ruth, with the support of his close friends, Carl and Lorraine Schilling. Mr. Dunn was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Bay City since 1956 and Hope Lutheran Church
in Bonita Springs, Florida where he and Ruth had
wintered.
